Client Advisory – Big Developments Regarding Sales Tax Triggers, Pay Equity Rules, Paid Leaves, and Minimum Wage

There has been a flurry of recent developments on the state and federal level that merit attention. Jeff Groshek takes on the Supreme Court’s decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, which paves the way for the imposition of sales taxes on companies selling goods online with no physical presence in the state into which they are selling. Joe Laferrera picks up the employment-related developments, summarizing the Massachusetts Act to Establish Equal Pay Equity (which speaks to the requirement that employers offer comparable pay for comparable work) and the so-called “Grand Bargain” that provides for an increase in the Massachusetts minimum wage as well as paid family, parental and medical leave.

We have summarized these developments in a client advisory you can find here. We hope you find this information helpful, and encourage you to contact Joe Laferrera if you need assistance regarding the employment aspects of it, or Jeff Groshek for any tax advice.
