Client Advisory – GDPR

The way in which our personal data is treated is very much in the news.  The topic has been a priority in the European Union for years, though, where the “right to privacy” has long been considered a fundamental human right.  Now, a new European privacy law is about to go into effect, and it may have dramatic repercussions for US organizations — even those without a substantial presence in Europe.  The law imposes significant new demand, claims extra-territorial reach, and provides for  fines and penalties that can run as high as €20 million.

We have written a brief summary of the new law, known as the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR. You can find it here.  We hope you find this information helpful, and encourage you to contact Joe Laferrera if you would like to learn more about it.
