Aaron Kriss runs the firm’s tax practice. Much of Aaron’s time is spent advising clients on the tax aspects of transactions, both at the corporate and founder-level. Such transactions include mergers and acquisitions, stock and asset purchases, buyouts, debt financings, LLC/corporate conversions, and cross-border deals. He also works extensively in the areas of incentive compensation, corporate/entity structuring, real estate transactions, and tax controversies. Aaron generally approaches all tax-related issues from a business and common-sense perspective, opting for the most efficient solution that fits a client’s business goals.

Aaron also serves as head of the firm’s Corporate Department and as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee

Background & Experience

Experience

Prior to joining Gesmer Updegrove, Aaron has worked as an attorney at Day Pitney LLP and Withers Bergman LLP, focusing primarily on tax issues relating to private companies and high-net worth individuals and entrepreneurs.

Aaron resides with his wife and three children in Connecticut, splitting his time between the firm’s Boston office and attending to clients in southern New England and the New York area.

A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and the University of Miami, Aaron enjoys spending his free time with his family, watching inordinate amounts of Red Sox games and college football (go Canes!), traveling to fun vacation spots, and visiting any sort of craft brewery or winery.
