Bill Contente knows the route to success.   As a corporate lawyer and senior counsel at Gesmer Updegrove, Bill has provided clients with quality legal advice, practical business guidance and value-added services that drive revenue and increase profitability for 30 years. For hundreds of companies, Bill has negotiated, drafted and closed venture capital financings, angel financings and successful exits, introduced clients to financing sources and “C” level team members, and engaged in strategic discussions to keep clients focused on success. The vast majority of Bill’s clients are emerging companies, from raw start-ups to companies with $50,000,000 in revenues.  With an extensive network, Bill is constantly opening doors and making connections that add to his clients’ capabilities and successes.

Bill’s style?

  • He’s pragmatic.  Clients look to Bill to come up with practical, cost-effective solutions to legal and business problems, and he delivers.
  • He’s driven by results.  By combining keen legal analysis and an appreciation of the business problems to be solved, Bill drives to help his clients fulfill their goals.
  • He’s a proven leader and an effective team player.
  • He’s passionate about working with entrepreneurs who are creating the future.

Bill is a former Managing Partner of Gesmer Updegrove. He is an active member and past Chairman of the Board of Launchpad Venture Group, an angel investment group. Bill currently serves as director or advisory board member of a number of for-profit companies, and has served on boards of several not-for-profit entities, including the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation and the Lena Park Community Development Corporation.

When work and family life permit, Bill is a swimmer and photographer. He’s also a saxophone player, but limits his musical aspirations to “playing in a bar band that doesn’t suck.”
