Chris has his eye on the bottom line. Gesmer Updegrove recognizes the importance of running an efficient and cost-effective office. As Chief Financial Officer & Firm Administrator Chris uses his experience and expertise to ensure this goal is accomplished. He directs the organization’s non-legal functions, including those involving finance and accounting, human resources, purchasing, facilities, records management, information systems, and general office procedures. He is also actively involved with the firm’s advertising, marketing, and public relations efforts. In addition, Chris works closely with the executive committee the partners to develop policy and procedures within the firm as well as both short and long-term strategic planning. He received his BA from Assumption College and has over 30 years of experience in upper level management of organizations, including over 20 years in senior law firm management experience.

Joining in 1997, Chris is an active member in the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), an international organization to support professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies as well as the Boston Chapter ALA he has served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Boston Chapter (2017-2018) and also 2004-2005 and 2005-2006. and throughout the years has continued be very active in both the Chapter and National levels of the ALA. He also earned his Certified Legal Manager (CLM) designation in 2006.
Chris enjoys rocking hard at concerts as well as playing golf, skiing, and spending time with his family. He is also is an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
